Shaman King
It's about Yoh Asakura and his adventure to become shaman king. A shaman is a human with an ability to communicate with soul or spirit and use their ability. Shaman king is a shaman who can use great spirit. By becoming shaman king, one can decide the future of the earth for the next 500 years. Why 500 years? Well, the's no clear explanation but shaman king is selected every 500 years. Unlike the president election which is decided by vote, shaman king decided by a competition called shaman fight.
In the beginning of the story, Yoh use this ability to have an easy school life. He summon a soul who used to be smart person and a soul of someone who have high athletic ability. Later in the shaman fight, he only use a soul of Amidamaru, a samurai who died 600 years ago.
This is the picture of Amidamaru in his human form. You can also see his spirit ball form in the first pisture.
In his journey Yoh met with a lot of people. Manta, Yoh classmate who's really short, not a shaman but able to see ghost/spirit. Ryu, a deliquient who looks for a "best place" for himself. Ryu have a talent to be a shaman and later he becomes a disciple of Yoh's grandpa and participate in shaman fight. Another shaman fight participant like Tao Ren, Horohoro, Lyserg Diethel, and many more.
This manga is interesting because each shaman use unique soul/spirit who has different ability. Tough some has similar ability (like Badbh, used by Pino and Kororo, used by Horohoro) mostly they fight differently. Most of the fight in this manga looks really cool because of this special ability and Hiroyuki Takei drawing ability. (><)
the only bad thing about this manga is it's premature ending. But later, Hiroyuki Takei give better ending in Shaman King Ken Zen Bang.
